Seeing who listened to your music
Find out whether a link was opened, who opened it, which songs they played and how far they got.
See what happens after you hit send
The most common frustration in sending music is hearing nothing back, because silence can mean three completely different things. It can be a no. It can be a not yet. It can be an email that never arrived. Those need completely different responses and guessing wrong is how people either give up too early or become a nuisance.
Locker records what happened after you sent the link, so you do not have to guess. Open Shares to see every link you have sent and who listened.
What Locker records
- Whether the link was opened at all, and when it was last opened.
- Who opened it, by name, when you asked the link to ask who's listening.
- Which tracks they played.
- Which parts of each track they actually played, and how far they got, rather than only that playback started.
- Roughly where in the world, and on what kind of device.
The part that is most useful in practice is how far through they got. Someone who played twenty seconds of the first song has told you something different from someone who played three songs to the end.
How to read it
- Never opened: the message probably got lost. A polite nudge is reasonable and often works.
- A brief play gives you context, not a definite answer. Use listening activity alongside the conversation when you follow up.
- Played through, or played more than once: that is the song to lead with next time you speak to them.
Listening activity also appears on the track itself, and in the Who listened card on Home and on Insights, so the history of who has heard a track lives with the track rather than in a separate report you have to go and find.
